Dancing Machine, a cover version of the track by The Jackson 5, was streamed as a rehearsal during 3rdEye TV Show # 5 in 2013, as the leading track in a medley with Partyman and It’s Alright (a snippet of (Theme Song From) Which Way Is Up?, which often precedes the track when played live, can also be heard as the rehearsal begins). The track originally appeared on The Jackson 5’s 1973 album G.I.T.: Get It Together, and was released as a single in 1974. Following the single’s success, the track was also included (in remixed form) as the title track on their next album, Dancing Machine (1974).
No studio version by Prince of Dancing Machine is believed to exist.
The track was written by Hal Davis, Don Fletcher and Dean Parks. The version streamed was a rehearsal recorded in late June 2013, at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA, with lead vocals by Shelby J., Elisa Dease and Liv Warfield, with lead guitar by Prince. The rehearsal segues directly into a rehearsal of Partyman. A live version of the medley from 30 June 2013 (a.m.) at City Winery Chicago, Chicago, Illinois, USA was also streamed on a 3rdEye TV Show in 2013.
