- 700 tickets for this show went on sale 8 p.m. on 1 June 1984 at First Avenue, and only on offer to those on the venue’s private mailing list. 400 more tickets were issued as complimentary; 100 VIP/Media, 100 club and 200 Prince.
- The show included the live debuts of Our Destiny, Roadhouse Garden, All Day, All Night, Noon Rendezvous, Erotic City and Irresistible Bitch. The audience rendition of Happy Birthday To You also marked the traditional song’s first appearance at a Prince show, with this being the first show to take place on his birthday.
- After the concert, a private birthday party was held at a sculptor’s studio in the warehouse district of Minneapolis. Guests included André Cymone and his mother Bernadette Anderson and Prince’s mother and stepfather, Mattie and Hayward Baker. The party included purple napkins, purple plates and purple paper stars on the tables. A huge wedding cake was decorated with purple music notes, piano keys, and a single of When Doves Cry instead of a bride and groom.
