Violet The Organ Grinder is a Prince and the New Power Generation video. Unlike previous videos, this one was commercially available (on the Gett Off home video) before broadcast.
Shooting took place in late July - early August 1991 at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, Minnesota. Prince appears for the first time with his chain-hat which would be featured prominently in the My Name Is Prince video. He dances with four women in a jail cell or dungeon. The women are all wearing black bikinis and their skin is painted gold (reminiscent of the 1964 James Bond movie Goldfinger).
