Funknroll (Official Lyric Video) is a Prince and 3rdEyeGirl video released by Warner Bros. Records on 18 November 2014 on their YouTube account. It was promoted the same day on social media by Prince’s Official Facebook Page and 3rdEyeGirl Twitter account.
Shooting for a music video for Funknroll, including a casting call was scheduled during the month of September in New York, but didn’t materialize.
According to the GuptaMedia website, the lyrics video was commissioned conjunctively by Warner Bros. Records and Prince’s teams. To promote “FUNKNROLL,” Warner Brothers Records and Team Prince approached Gupta Media to create a lyric video as funky as the man and his music.
The die-hard fans on our creative team took images of Prince and his band, 3RDEYEGIRL, and brought the psychedelic symphony to life and gave viewers a glimpse into Prince’s Third Eye.
No other details are known about the making of the video and the level of involvement of Prince in this project.
