Dolphin is a Prince (as ) video released for broadcast. The song was included on The Gold Experience released twelve months after the first airing of this video.
Shooting took place somewhere in mid 1994, presumably at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, Minnesota. It features a (single-take footage) performance of the song ,with The NPG dressed in black, except for Mayte who is in angelic white, an outfit that would appear in later videos. Prince is in a black suit, wearing sunglasses and has the word 'Slave' in mirrored writing on his cheek, singing the track with The NPG on a bed.
It premiered on 30 September 1994 at the launch party for VH-1 (UK) in London, which Prince attended to press the button premiering the video as the first one aired on VH-1 in the UK. It was later also included in the VH1 Break part of the Love 4 One Another TV-special.
