Thunder was the sixth worldwide single to be released from the album Diamonds And Pearls, by Prince and the New Power Generation, although it was only released in the UK, where it was the album’s fifth single (although a promotional CD release was available in the USA also). A 3-minute video for the song with footage from the (previously released) Insatiable video has been shown on some music channels, but it likely wasn’t provided by Prince or Paisley Park Records The single as a 12" picture disc only, eight months after the album’s release, to tie in with the UK leg of the Diamonds And Pearls Tour, which began the same day as the single’s release.
