The Cross was a promotional single from Prince’s ninth album Sign O’ The Times, released in 1987 in South Africa only.
It is not known if a wider release was planned.
The b-side was an edited version of Adore that was not available elsewhere at that time.
The single was re-released as part of the Sign O’ The Times Singles collection in 2020.
