Money Don’t Matter 2 Night was the fifth single (and final US commercial single) to be released from Prince’s 13th album Diamonds And Pearls, the first album to be credited to Prince and the New Power Generation. It was released five months after the album, and received release worldwide.
The b-side, Call The Law, was previously unreleased (although later included, in slightly edited form, on the Gold Nigga album, credited only to the New Power Generation). Push, from Diamonds And Pearls, was also included on the 12" and CD versions.
The single reached number 23 on the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart, and number 14 on the Billboard Hot R&B Singles Chart, making Diamonds And Pearls the first Prince album since Purple Rain to have four top 30 singles.
The single was re-released as part of the Diamonds And Pearls Singles collection in 2023.
