Rearrange is a song Prince recorded on 8 December 1981, at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, California. It is not entirely clear if Prince recorded it for one of his albums or with The Time in mind. The music and arrangement of the song are very similar to the later recorded Lady Cab Driver, for which it seems almost a template.
In 1988, Prince asked his engineer Chuck Zwicky to pull out the track from the vault (along with Eros, Rain, Extraloveable and Poppa Grooves) and mix it: "When he was on the Lovesexy Tour, I was assigned to go in the vault and provide mixes for songs that had never been mixed." It is not known if there were other plans for that song at that time.
The song was released in 2019 as the fifth track on the Vault Tracks part 1 disc of a Super Deluxe Edition edition of the 1999 album.

- The released mix of this track was done by Niko Bolas specifically for the 1999 Super Deluxe Edition release. It was made to replicate the original mix from the time the song was initially tracked, as much as possible. In this case the original mix could be the 1988 mix by Chuck Zwicky, who at the time said he mixed songs (including this title that had never been mixed [before.] So even when one or more slightly different mixes of this track might exist, the now released version is not considered a true alternate mix of the track.
