Promise is the fifth track on Milenia’s first and only album Our Story. Singer Niyoki White has confirmed that Prince produced the track, although his contribution is uncredited, and no tracks on the album give specific producer credits (Kirk Johnson and Milenia are listed as executive producers of the album, however).
Specific recording dates are unknown, but it is likely that basic tracking for Prince’s contribution took place in Summer 2001 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota (during Milenia’s brief stint as Prince’s background singers).
