While basic tracking dates are unknown, it is believed that the track was recorded between Summer 2014 and late 2015, most likely at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota. Typed lyrics for the track were found on a music stand in Paisley Park Studios Studio A following Prince’s death on 21 April 2016 (behind handwritten lyrics for Stay Cool), making it a possibility that he intended to record a remix or re-recording of the track, but this is unconfirmed.
