Call My Name is the fifth track on Prince’s 28th studio album Musicology, and in July 2004, Call My Name was released as a promo-only single in North America. On 13 February 2005, the track won the Grammy Award for "Best Male R&B Vocal Performance", beating Charlene by Anthony Hamilton, Happy People by R.Kelly, What We Do Here by Brian McKnight, and Burn by Usher.
Initial recording dates are unknown, but it is likely that the track was recorded in 2003 - early 2004 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota or Metalworks Studios, Mississauga, ON, Canada.
