Singles released
|
|
The 4 singles released from this album didn’t contain a Prince contribution:
|
|
| The Red Shoes is the seventh studio album by British singer/songwriter Kate Bush.
The album contained one song with musical input by Prince, Why Should I Love You?, written by Bush (with no writing input from Prince).
Sessions and compiling
Kate Bush recorded Why Should I Love You? at Abbey Road Studios, London, England, while Prince’s parts were recorded at Larrabee Sound Studios in North Hollywood, California.
The album also featured musical input by Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Nigel Kennedy. Why Should I Love You? also features British comedian Lenny Henry, who has long been vocal about his love for Prince’s music, and performed various monologues about and impersonations of Prince during the 1980s.
Promotion
The album produced four singles, Rubberband Girl, Eat The Music, The Red Shoes and And So Is Love. It reached number 28 on the US Billboard Pop Chart, and was more successful in the UK (Bush’s home country), where it reached number 2 on the Gallup Top 40 Album Chart.
The album was remastered in 2010 or 2011 by Kate Bush and James Guthrie and re-released in 2011 on her new label Fish People. The Red Shoes was remastered again by Doug Sax, James Guthrie and Joel Plante and re-released in 2018 (with no additional tracks).
