Soul Psychodelicide (sometimes referred to as Soulpsychodelicide) is an unreleased song recorded in 1989 (specific recording dates are unknown), at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota. Actress Kim Basinger appears on one version of the track providing a cappella singing, indicating that some recording for the track may have taken place in October 1989 (around the time of the recording of The Scandalous Sex Suite). Basinger’s moans from the song have been sampled on a few different tracks and the live version of Gett Off.

A handwritten tracklist from late 1989 for Graffiti Bridge shows that Soul Psychodelicide was, at one point, considered for that album, briefly replacing We Can Funk (crossed out on the tracklist) which was already on an earlier configuration. Prince and George Clinton worked further on the track together on 20-21 February 1990 at Paisley Park Studios. Clinton took the song back to his studio in Detroit (studio details needed), where he worked on the song further. He would later re-use the line "What is the booty and how will I know if I’m shakin’ it? / What is the funk and how will I know if I’m fakin’ it?" on the Del The Funky Homosapien’song What Is A Booty? released in 1991 (on their I Wish My Brother George Was Here).

The title is re-used from an otherwise-unrelated song in 1986 (for information on this track and the origin of its title, see Soul Psychodelicide). Interestingly, the original track of the same name was recorded five days after Joy In Repetition, which includes the lyrics "Live music from the band plays a song called Soul Psychodelicide / The song’s a year long, and it’s been playin’ for months...", and the 1989/1990 version of Soul Psychodelicide includes the lyric "3 month’s in, we got 9 2 go / Anybody in the house wanna stop this show? (Hell no!)" indicating that Prince saw these songs as connected.

An early version of the track contains various chants and lyrics lifted from songs Prince was working on at that time (The Big Pump, Can’t Stop This Feeling I Got, New Power Generation, We Can Funk, Elephants & Flowers, The Question Of U, Graffiti Bridge) as well as musical elements from Cloreen Bacon Skin and Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic.
