She Gave Her Angels is the fourth track on the third and final disc of Prince’s 20th album Crystal Ball (his fourth using the name  ).
Specific recording dates are not known, but the track is believed to have been recorded in early 1996 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota. It was included as the tenth track on a March/April 1996 configuration of Emancipation. She Gave Her Angels was then planned for inclusion on the 1996 children’s album Happy Tears (announced during a press release in April focusing on Mayte’s pregnancy), which led to its exclusion from Emancipation.
The songs occurrence on the Muppets Tonight TV show, recorded on 28 October 1996, was added on Prince’s request, after his son, born with Pfeiffer Syndrome passed away a week after his birth.
